Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Romans 12:15
In a world often marred by division and indifference, where falsehood and envy pervade our interactions, it’s easy to lose sight of the genuine needs and experiences of those around us. Yet, in John 17:21, Jesus implores us to be one with each other, just as He is one with the Father. This call to unity transcends our human tendencies towards envy and judgment, reminding us of the importance of compassion, kindness, and genuine love for one another. When we align our hearts with God’s will, we begin to see others not through our limited perspective but through the lens of divine empathy.
Romans 12:15 reinforces this message by urging us to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. This verse encourages unity and understanding in our relationships, breaking down the walls of falsehood and envy. Whether in times of triumph or trial, we are called to stand in solidarity with others, offering support, comfort, and genuine companionship.
Similarly, the apostle Peter reminds us in 1 Peter 3:8 to be of one mind, compassionate, loving, merciful, and friendly towards one another. It teaches us the importance of putting ourselves in the shoes of others, understanding their perspective, and responding with grace and empathy.
Today, let us earnestly seek the Lord’s guidance to cultivate within us a genuine spirit of kindness, joy, and love. May we become more sensitive and aware of the needs of those around us, extending compassion and understanding in both their triumphs and trials. Let’s put it into practice with all our hearts.
