Care of Original Artwork

Handle with care:

Our care instructions are tailored to provide essential guidance for maintaining your original artwork.  We want your investment to last for generations, providing enjoyment for your family.

For my original artworks, I use only 300lbs/640 GSM cold press finish paper, recognized for its exceptional quality and durability. Made from 100% cotton, this premium paper ensures that each brushstroke is captured with precision and depth, allowing the artwork to truly come to life. The cold press finish adds texture and character to the piece, enhancing its visual appeal and making it a standout addition to any collection.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with these important guidelines.  When handling your artwork, be sure to do so with clean hands and avoid touching the surface directly to prevent smudges or damage.

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight:

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading or discoloration of your artwork. Display your piece in a location away from direct sunlight to preserve its vibrancy.

Use archival-quality framing materials:

When framing your artwork, opt for archival-quality materials to ensure its long-term preservation. Acid-free mats and UV-protective glass can help protect against deterioration over time.

Protect from humidity and moisture:

Original artwork is susceptible to damage from high humidity and moisture. Keep your piece in a dry, well-ventilated area and avoid hanging it in areas prone to humidity, such as bathrooms or basements.

Clean with caution:

If your artwork requires cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth or a gentle brush to remove any dust or debris. Avoid using water or cleaning solutions, as they may damage the delicate surface of the painting.

Store properly when not in use:

When not on display, store your watercolor artwork in a flat, dry place away from direct sunlight and fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Use acid-free tissue paper or archival sleeves to protect the surface from scratches or abrasions. By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your watercolor artwork remains in pristine condition for years to come, preserving its beauty and value for future generations to enjoy.

Care of Art Prints

General Care:

For my fine art prints, I exclusively use high-quality 310 GSM Hahnemühle fine art paper. This premium paper, made of 100% cotton fiber, is acid and lignin-free, ensuring the longevity of your prints. Each print features a 1/4” additional border to facilitate matting/framing, enhancing its presentation. The pronounced felt texture and matte finish breathe life into the art, replicating the depth and dimension of the original pieces flawlessly. For postcards, I use deluxe cardstock weighing 350 GSM, boasting a matte finish for a luxurious feel. There’s no white border to maintain a seamless design. Additionally, my cards are crafted using premium paper weighing 300 GSM, also with a matte finish, ensuring the highest quality in every detail.  Display your prints in indirect lighting and away from moisture to prevent damage from humidity, dust, solvents, and smoke. Hang them in low-traffic areas, out of reach of children, and avoid exposing them to heat, which can be detrimental.

Handling:

Handle your prints with care to avoid damaging the image. Never place them face down or stack objects on top during storage. When hanging, hold the print from the sides to minimize contact and prevent scratching.

 Cleaning:

Use a clean, white, dry, lint-free cloth to gently wipe off dust and dirt. Never clean with water.

 Lighting:

Avoid displaying prints in direct sunlight, as it can cause fading. Consider using UV protective coatings to minimize damage from harmful ultraviolet rays.

Storage

Store prints in a controlled environment with ideal conditions of 70 degrees and 55% humidity to prevent damage. Keep prints away from solvent-based materials and store them upright with glassine paper dividers to avoid damage. Avoid tape contact with the print and refrain from storing embellished prints in plastic bags.

Following these care instructions will help ensure the longevity of your fine art prints, allowing you to enjoy them for years to come.
