Trusting in God’s Work

In life, we’re constantly teetering on the edge of making mistakes, succumbing to temptation, or feeling overwhelmed by challenges. We may find ourselves giving up when things get tough or failing to follow through on our intentions. These struggles highlight our human limitations—we can’t always rely on our own strength to see things through or effect change.

However, Paul offers a message of hope in moments of weakness: “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). This verse reminds us that our ultimate transformation is not dependent on us but on God, who initiates, sustains, and completes the work within us. Like a skilled potter shaping clay, God molds us into the individuals He intends us to be.

As we open our hearts and yield to God’s transformative power, we can be refined step by step. Even in the face of adversity, God uses every circumstance to fulfill His purpose in our lives. Sometimes, this process may require discomfort or challenges that push us to surrender fully to His will.

Paul’s own experiences attest to the power of faith in Christ to sustain and guide us through life’s trials. He writes, “Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God” (2 Corinthians 3:4-5).

It’s reassuring to know that we’re in the hands of the One who never fails to fulfill His promises. As Numbers 23:19 reminds us, God is not a man that He should lie; He is faithful to His word. Therefore, our role is simply to trust and give thanks to the One who remains steadfast and true.

Today, let us hold fast to our faith, confident that the Lord will bring to completion the work He has begun in our lives. Thank you, God, for Your faithfulness!
